Aşk ve Faşizm - Yeşim Özsoy

Designed for the 18th Istanbul International Theatre Festival, this play brings together three playwrights with whom GalataPerform previously collaborated through its New Text New Theatre project: Gianina Cărbunariu(Romania), Linda McLean (Scotland), and Helena Tornero (Spain), under the title “Love and Fascism.”

In this piece, Yeşim Özsoy envisions a minimalist staging that flows between the real and the fictional, with a strong emphasis on feminine energy. During the script development phase, each playwright created their text based on conversations with the others, their own lives, and the central themes. The four distinct texts—developed in parallel and inspired by their Skype conversations—were later brought together into a single performance during the direction and staging process.

Combining light, movement, and text through contrasts such as darkness/light, confinement/openness, concealment/revelation, the play offers a subjective and critical reflection on contemporary fascism.

The world premiere of Love and Fascism took place on May 21, 2014, at Kadıköy Moda Sahnesi, as part of the 18th Istanbul International Theatre Festival.

The play consists of four parts and runs for 100 minutes with no intermission.

Love and Fascism is a co-production of the Istanbul International Theatre Festival, presented with the valuable support of the Cervantes Institute Istanbul and the Dimitri Cantemir Romanian Cultural Institute.
