Stain 2012 - Yesim Ozsoy

Markiz and Eleni, two Greek sisters living in the 1950s, were forced to leave their home during the events of September 6–7. In the 1980s, following the coup of September 12, Ahmet and his Black Sea-region landlord Turgut Usta rented the same house in Tarlabaşı as they sought refuge. In the 2000s, the same house became home to Sevengül, a trans sex worker, and her lover Rizgar…

Across all these eras, the characters both carry the stories of the previous generations through the traces left in the house and create their own narratives.

“İz” was written by Ahmet Sami Özbudak as part of the New Text New Theatre Project, which has made significant strides in playwriting in Turkey since 2006. With this play, Özbudak received the “Europe’s Most Promising Young Playwright” award at the Heidelberg Stückemarkt Festival in Germany in 2012.
