“Turkey – Germany 0:0” is a project designed by Istanbul-based playwright and director Yeşim Özsoy for the Wartburg Stage of the Wiesbaden State Theatres (Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden), under the General Artistic Direction of Manfred Beilharz, President of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) World Organization.
The play, structured across four different scenes by Yeşim Özsoy, presents situations in which Turks and Germans are compelled to share the same space. With a title evoking a football match that ends with no goals scored—“0:0”—the play merges the theatrical and football arenas into a unique performative structure. In all the scenarios presented, the characters form opposing sides and move as if they are players in a football game. Yet, by the end, they all become actors in a match with no winner.
