The Third Universe reinterprets the identities and identity confusion of those living in Turkey within an increasingly globalized world shaped by a new kind of modernity. It questions the existence of utopias in the present day. In this production, the actors perform inside a white cube, interacting with images projected onto its walls through computer-based video design. It stands as one of the earliest examples of what later came to be known and widely discussed in Turkey as digital theatre.
“Non-places are spaces of transit and passage that lack historical depth or symbolic resonance. A place can be defined through relationships, history, or identity. In contrast, a non-place cannot be defined by relationships, history, or identity.”
(Marc Augé, Non-places: An Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity, 1995:77)
